Info

I was born on 10th June, 1983 in Gostynin (Poland). I attended 1st and 2nd degree Music School in Kutno to study classical piano. My interest in jazz music started in 1998 at International Jazz Workshop in Chodzież, where I had a chance to participate in lectures lead by renowned teachers from USA, including Reggie Thomas on piano (professor of music at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a consultant/clinician for Jazz at Lincoln Center). Since that time my love to jazz music began to grow as well as a powerfull need of knolewge and experience in that field of musical art. After graduating Music School I passed entrance exams to prestigous Jazz Department of Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice and continued my education in two faculties – jazz piano performance and jazz composition and arrangement.
This period of my life has had the greatest influence on my musical evolution in jazz field. I formed my own trio, with which I took part in the most important international jazz competitions in Poland and recieved following prizes:
    •    1st prize at the International Jazz Standards Festival in Siedlce (2005);
    •    Grand Prix and special prize from Radio Kraków at Jazz Juniors Festival in Cracow (2006);
    •    Grand Prix of the Lotos Jazz Festival - Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa in Bielsko-Biała (2006);
    •    1st Individual Prize at the Jazz On The Odra River Festival in Wrocław (2003 and 2004).
At the same time I have been invited to play in musical groups formed by Polish jazz icons such as Michał Urbaniak, Jarosław Śmietana, Urszula Dudziak and also international stars bands, such as Dean Brown and Eric Marienthal. During this period I worked on stage whith many artists of different genres besides jazz: classical with symphonic orchestras, fusion, cuban, gospel, soul, R’n’B, pop, theater. I also began exploring an electric side of keyboard instruments by learning to play Hammond B3 and handle analog synths. By the end of my studies I had an opportunity to work as a recording producer and write for symphonic orchestra. I performed with: Maria Schneider, Rick Margitza, Larry Coryell, Xantone Blacq, Otto Williams, Troy Miller, Z-Star, Judy Bady, Ed Neumeister, Steve Logan, Yaron Stavi, Frank Parker, Josh Lawrence, Jacques Seguin, Jose Torres, Marita Alban Juarez and many others.
I serve as a teacher at several international summer jazz faculties across the country.
After recieving a Bachelor’s Degree (in composition and arrangement - 2006 and in piano performance - 2007) I became a teacher in the above mentioned academy in Katowice. Besides my educational career I am still an active musician fronting my own bands – Tomaszewski Trio and The Gentlemen (a quartet featuring me on B3 organ), and playing as a sideman with top polish and international artists.
